Students at Bismarck State College can connect with their professors and departments at a brand-new weekly event. This event is Toast Tuesday. Students can attend this event at a new location each week. The event was organized by BSC Student Engagement Coordinator, Danielle Dolechek.
“This kind of helps the staff professors get to know the students outside of the class too, a little bit,” Dolechek said.“I think it’ll help them engage more with students, because it is something out-
side of the classroom.”
The idea came from an Instagram Reel that showed a similar event organized by a professor that allowed his students to get to know their department and faculty.
“This is for students, so it will always be 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.,” Dolechek said. “I will have a traveling island and I’ll bring bread, different toppings for your
bread, and a toaster, and we’ll just keep toasting. That’s why it’s called Toast Tuesdays.”
Many BSC faculty and staff expressed their excitement and gave supportive feedback when it came to planning Toast Tuesday.
“It should be fun and hopefully it goes well,” Dolechek said. “If it goes well,
we’ll do it next semester too.”
So far, Toast Tuesdays have been in Schafer Hall and the Jack Science Center Lobby.
The dates and times of each Toast Tuesday event can be found on flyers around campus, and the list of locations will be posted.
