BSC students living on campus moved into the residence halls near the end of August. The move-in days for each hall were staggered; on August 23, Gate City and Werner residents moved in. On August 24, the Lidstrom and Mystic residents moved in, and on August 25, residents moved into Ritchie Hall and Swensen Hall. Keeping the move-in days staggered helped diminish the chaos of having residents move in all at once.
For students who might not know, Gate City Hall and Ritchie Hall are co-ed style apartments located close to the student union. Lidstrom Hall and Mystic Hall are co-ed suite style halls and are also located near the student union. Meanwhile, Swensen Hall is the women’s traditional style hall located across from LEA Hall, or library. Werner Hall is the men’s traditional style hall. It is closer to the Aquatic Center, Armory, and Community Bowl. Each residence hall has its own perks, whether it be its location or the amenities each offers.
Move-in weekend was busy, but it was also an important part of student life. The move-in days gave students a taste of what life will be like for the upcoming semester and helped students get settled into their living spaces. Students were able to foster new connections through the move-in days, as well as campus events, such as casino night and the welcome fair. Mandatory hall meetings in each hall helped introduce students to one another and familiarized them with hall rules and regulations.
