The Remarkable Kids Rodeo is not just one of the numerous events besides the main Mandan Rodeo Days. The free event provides children aged 4-12 with a wide range of abilities and needs the chance to experience a rodeo without limits to what they can do. The Seventh Annual Remarkable Kids Rodeo took place on July 2 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and featured activities ranging from stick horse barrel racing to roping. A reunion of Rodeo Clowns attended the event as well and helped entertain the kids.

Brittany Mack is the founder of the Remarkable Kids Rodeo. Mack was Miss Rodeo Mandan in the past, and she says that rodeo has always been an important part of her life

“Rodeo’s always been near and dear to my heart, and my family’s. We’re from Mandan, and I am also an occupational therapist, so working with kids with special needs has also been near and dear to my heart. When I competed for Miss Rodeo North Dakota, they had a similar set up to this, and so kids with special needs were able to come in and compete in a modified environment,” Mack said. “So I felt it was something that Mandan needed. They could come in and they could have this, where things are kind of adapted to what they needed, so whether or not they needed extra help or extra encouragement, or things were too big and they needed extra time, we could kind of adapt those things for what they needed.”

Mack also shared how kids can participate in the Remarkable Rodeo and the new prizes featured this year.

“Kids register and sign up. Thanks to our sponsors HIPP Kids Therapy and H.A. Thompson & Sons, kids get a goodie bag and a T-shirt. Last year and this year we have some special prizes that we’ve been able to get, so a few kids have been able to win a trophy or a belt buckle.”
